At this very moment, I have 3 new projects to begin designing and 3 pitches to begin writing. If there were a better time to NOT write the blog post I’ve been putting off, I can’t think of it.

So why am I cutting out this piece of morning to do anything unrelated to critical work?

Because David Carson’s The End of Print is screaming at me from my library to come pick it up and revel in its rebellion.

This is the struggle of the creative. And I’m taking this 5 minutes now to let my brain scratch the itch. To pull out the plug and let the juicy stuff flow in.

If I don’t express this nagging thought, it would be like a slice of tres leches cake in front of me and I’m holding a fork. But I can’t take a bite until I’ve run a mile.

So I take one bite, and with the discipline that resides in my left brain, I push the plate away.
